Record-Breaking Mongolian Vegan Runner Wins in a 48-Hour Ultramarathon In Florida

Budjargal Byambaa, a vegan runner, won the Save the Daylight ultra in Florida, USA. He ran 275 km in 2 days, covering 172 miles. The 48 Hour Race began on March 8, 2024, at 9 am. Ultramarathons exceed the standard marathon length and feature diverse terrains and formats.

In 2022, Byambaa won the 48-hour world championship and the Sri Chinmoy ten-day race. He holds records in Mongolia and won the Across The Years race by running 1,111 km between 2021 and 2022.

In 2013, he set Mongolia's 24-hour record by running 182 km. He did the Sri Chinmoy race five times, winning twice in 2017 (1,189 km) and 2019 (1,222 km). Byambaa also won the Xiamen 6-day race in 2019 with a distance of 834 km.

Since January 2019, Byambaa adopted a vegan lifestyle to boost athletic performance. According to him, veganism enhances physical and inner strength. He believes it aids in spiritual development and excelling in long-distance running, relying more on inner strength than physical.
