Aldi Launches Biggest Ever Vegan Range – Including Pain Au Chocolat

Aldi Unveils Largest Vegan Range for Veganuary 2024

Budget supermarket Aldi is making waves with its extensive Veganuary offerings, presenting its most substantial vegan range to date. The new selection includes familiar fast-food favorites like vegan corn dogs and fried chicken, alongside convenient options such as mushroom bolognese and coronation chickpea curry.

Diverse Vegan Delights at Affordable Prices

Among the returning favorites are Aldi's Vegan Breakfast Pastries, featuring Plant Menu Croissants and Plant Menu Pain-au-Chocolat, both priced at an affordable £1.89. This launch, available in stores during Veganuary, aims to make vegan food accessible and budget-friendly.

Aldi's Vegan Legacy: Plant Menu Range

Aldi has earned recognition in the vegan community for its Plant Menu range, initiated in 2019. Each January, Aldi introduces new products, aligning with the growing trend of adopting a plant-based diet for the month.

New Additions for Veganuary 2024

Exclusive to 2024, Aldi introduces the Plant Menu Corn Dogs (£1.99) and two novel vegetable fritters: Vegetable Tempura Fritters with a Black Rice Vinegar Dip and Spicy Sweetcorn Fritters with a Sweet Chilli Dip (both £1.99). Additionally, popular choices are making a return, with Plant Menu Strawberries & Cream and Hazelnut & Praline Vegan Ice Cream Cones, inspired by Cornetto, available at £1.99 each. For those craving a seafood alternative, Plant Menu Smoked No Salmon Slices are priced at £2.99.

Accessible Veganism for All Budgets

Contrary to claims by meat companies that veganism is costlier than meat-based diets, studies, including one from the University of Oxford in 2021, have debunked this notion. Aldi offers a range of inexpensive vegan proteins, including chickpeas (£0.55 per 400g tin), lentils (£1.19 per 500g bag), and tofu (£0.99 per 200g block).

A 2021 report by Feedback revealed that many UK supermarkets have historically promoted meat products through price promotions, driving demand for animal-based options.

Veganuary 2024: A Testament to Mainstream Plant-Based Eating

The extensive array of Veganuary launches in 2024 at Aldi emphasizes the increasing popularity of plant-based eating within mainstream culture. As the supermarket continues to diversify its vegan offerings, it reinforces the notion that plant-based choices can be both widespread and economical.
